From the Pastors Desk - April 03, 2023
If you were not able to attend, you missed a wonderful time with some fantastic fellowship. All the macaroni and cheese dishes were very delicious, and it was difficult to narrow the eight contestants down to just the top three to vote for. Add a nice tossed salad and some tasty baked goods to the mix and a great dinner was had by all! The evening was capped off with a fun, and rowdy, game of match a card and choose a prize that kept everyone laughing and cheering. It’s evenings like this one that make me feel sorry for those who do not have a church home. There are so many great moments in life shared with other family members of church congregations. I know my two teenagers spent the evening laughing and enjoying themselves immensely.
If you weren’t able to attend on the 18th, there are other opportunities for worshipping with our partners at Zion. On Sunday, April 2nd Good Shepherd will host a covered dish dinner and Passion Sunday evening prayer service. The covered dish dinner begins at 5pm and evening prayer service begins at 6:30pm. I know Ed will be bringing in several musicians for what will be a very beautiful service.
On Maundy Thursday, April 6th, Zion will host a Seder and Communion service at 6:30pm. Although there will not be an actual full meal, we will taste the various items included on the Seder plate. We will then share communion together around our tables.
At 7pm on Good Friday, April 7th, Good Shepherd will host Zion for the Good Friday service “The Way of the Cross”. Hymn singing and choral pieces by both choirs will be included.
On Easter Sunday, April 9th, we will celebrate the Alleluias of Easter with Pastor Eli!!
Please plan to attend one, or all, of these Holy Week services. This is a great opportunity to gather together to celebrate Holy Week and meet some new friends from Zion.
