Thanksgiving!

From the Pastors Desk - October 31, 2022

It’s hard to believe that the Thanksgiving holiday will be upon us once again. Doesn’t it seem like we just finished the last one? Time flies! I’ve been told that the older you get the faster time flies, and I certainly agree and have proof!

So what will Thanksgiving look like this year? Cold and snowy, warm and rainy or sunny and breezy. Seeing as it is Ohio, all of those choices certainly are possibilities. Will there be turkey and stuffing, sweet potatoes, green bean casserole and pie? Or would you rather have burgers or steaks and fries? Perhaps you’re vegetarian and would prefer to leave the meat at the grocery store. However Thanksgiving shows up at your house, I hope it’s tasty and filled with good times.

There is an additional definition of Thanksgiving. According to the Oxford Languages Dictionary, thanksgiving also means “the expression of gratitude, especially to God”. While I am continuously thankful for all that God has blessed me with, I am also very thankful for all of you!

Thanks to all of you we have been able to keep Good Shepherd open and continue to do great things together. Thanks to all of you for your continued attendance, contributions and stepping in to do what’s needed when it’s needed. I am constantly thankful for all of you, my church family!

My hope for all of you is that you have an amazing and fun filled holiday season! If you are travelling, please be safe! Enjoy your time with family and friends, and return prepared for an Advent season that promises to bring us salvation in the birth of a savior.

In thankfulness to all of you,

Lei Fahrner
