Odds & Ends
Synod has sent us the name of a possible candidate who is very interested in a part time call. Rod has emailed, texted and called at the time he was told to call with no luck. This gentleman is from Berea and plans to stay there due to his full time job being in that location. My suspicion is that the hour plus long trip to Canton does not work well for part time. In the meantime, the council will be looking for other potential opportunities to share Good Shepherd’s ministry.
I am really looking forward to the Main Street Festival. Thanks to Lester for all of his hard work collecting, sorting and cleaning dishes! What a great game! I think it will be loads of fun that Saturday, and will give Good Shepherd a visible community presence. Thanks to those who are helping by filling the time-slots to assist. Don’t forget the church picnic the next day after service as well!
I will be starting Adult Sunday school this fall with a several week program about the Crusades. I have learned throughout my history lessons that about the only thing really taught regarding the Crusades is that they happened. We’ll go in depth and learn the how, what, where, when and why and how they ultimately affected history.
Sherry mentioned an idea in an email to me several weeks ago that I really liked. That idea was to have a dinner for first responders. I think that this is a wonderful idea to honor those behind the scenes people that we can’t live without. This would be a huge undertaking that I believe would be best shared with one or two other churches. I can see community support from various stores also needed and, most likely, readily available. Just a great thought for a hopefully future time.
